Edge of the Wedge - Australian Ceramic Triennale Group Show

The Home group show involved curating the work of artists who attended two international workshops held in 2023 in Australia and Indonesia by renown Australian artist, Fleur Schell. Workshop participants will come together in Fremantle for the first time to share their work in Fleur’s home town, as part of Wedge 2025 - the Australian Ceramic Triennale.

The quote inspired the title and theme of this group show, ‘HOME’. Fleur Schell as all invited artists to respond to the notion of ‘home’. The quote reminded her of how comfortable the participants made her feel in their presence as she shared with them her passion for clay and her philosophy on life. ‘Home’ reflected a two-year evolution from the workshops and highlighted the evolution that happens through the dissemination of tacit knowledge. Fleur’s teaching philosophy is to encourage imitation until there is innovation…never not do something because it's been down before, it will always be unique because it has been made by you.

The curation of the show was challenging as works were sent from around the country and installed in a space, along with a larger group show of more than 80 artists. Despite the passage of time, the clear connection between Fleur, the artists and shared skills, knowledge and experience is clearly woven through all the works.
